Safely Remove A Bird From Your Garage
How to Get a Bird Out of Your Garage
Discovering a bird in your garage can be stressful for both you and the bird. Stay calm and follow these steps to ensure a safe and humane removal process.
Prepare the Environment
First, open all garage doors and windows to create multiple exit points. Turn off any lights to reduce the bird's stress and help it focus on the natural light from the exits.
- Close interior doors to prevent the bird from entering your home.
- Remove pets from the area to avoid further frightening the bird.
Guide the Bird Out
Use a broom or a similar long object to gently steer the bird toward an open door or window. Avoid sudden movements and never try to catch the bird with your hands.
If the bird is injured or refuses to leave, contact a local wildlife rehabilitator for assistance. Never attempt to handle an injured bird yourself.
Once the bird is out, ensure your garage is bird-proofed by sealing any entry points and keeping doors closed when not in use.
