Cupping Color Meaning
Cupping therapy is an ancient therapeutic modality utilized in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and modern sports physical therapy to relieve myofascial restriction, accelerate microvascular circulation, and stimulate lymphatic drainage. Following a treatment session involving silicone, glass, or plastic suction cups, characteristic circular marks (petechiae and ecchymosis) appear on the skin. In therapeutic tradition, the color and intensity of these suction marks—ranging from light pink to deep purplish-black—are interpreted as diagnostic indicators of localized blood stagnation, cellular metabolic waste accumulation, and myofascial tension.
