FRC Cable Full Form: Fire Resistant Cable Guide
The acronym FRC Cable stands for Fire Resistant Cable (also commonly referred to as Fire Rated Cable or Fire Retardant Cable). In electrical engineering and life safety systems, FRC cables are specialized conductors designed to maintain electrical circuit integrity during active fire conditions. While ordinary cables melt, short-circuit, and produce toxic fumes within minutes of flame contact, FRC cables are constructed with glass mica tape barriers and cross-linked zero-halogen compounds that ensure vital emergency systems—such as fire escape elevators, emergency lighting, smoke extraction fans, and sprinkler pumps—remain powered for two to three hours during structural fires.
