CBN Insert Full Form: CNC Cutting Tool Guide
The full form of CBN insert is Cubic Boron Nitride Insert (frequently manufactured as PCBN - Polycrystalline Cubic Boron Nitride). In precision CNC machining, metal cutting technology, and mechanical manufacturing, a CBN insert is an ultra-hard indexable cutting tool insert engineered by sintering micro-crystals of cubic boron nitride with ceramic or metallic binder phases under extreme high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) conditions. Second in hardness only to natural diamond, CBN inserts possess superior thermal stability (resisting oxidation up to 1,200 degrees Celsius) and chemical inertness toward iron, making them the premier cutting tool material for high-speed machining and hard turning of hardened steels, chilled cast irons, and nickel-based superalloys.
